US contractor killed, five service members wounded in likely Iranian-made UAV attack in Syria: Pentagon

The United States launched airstrikes in Syria after a U.S. contractor was killed and five U.S. service members and an additional contractor were injured from a one-way unmanned aerial vehicle attack believed to be Iranian-made, the Department of Defense announced Thursday.

At a coalition center close to Hasakah in north Syria, the incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. local period. According to the bureau, three other injured service members and a surviving injured company were evacuated to coalition health facilities in Iraq while two of the wounded service personnel were treated at the scene.

According to ABC News, the United States is supporting Syrian Kurdish forces in eastern Syria with more than 900 soldiers and hundreds more vendors.
