Law Professor Reveals Why Manhattan DA’s Case Against Trump Is ‘Falling Apart’

After Trump announced last week that he might be indicted amid a flurry of grand jury exercise, Georgetown University professor Jonathan Turley explained why Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s way against former President Donald Trump is today” falling apart.”

Turley wrote in an opinion piece for the New York Post that was published late last month,” The problem is that Bragg has long been searching for a crime in the criminal code to gratify his ball during his campaign that he was the guy for voters who wanted to bulge Trump.” When a so-called calm cash transaction to child actor Stormy Daniels was reportedly misclassified in 2016, Bragg has been looking into whether Trump broke campaign finance laws.

According to Turley, the alleged crime” expired as a chargeable misdemeanor after two years— roughly five years ago.” Second, even if they were successful, Trump had brush it off as a simple offense.

In his mind story, Turley, who served as an expert witness in Trump’s first prosecution analysis, asserted that Bragg” scoffed at” the situation and” stopped the inspection when he came into power.” However, Carey R. Dunne and Mark F. Pomerantz, two prosecutors, resigned from Bragg’s office in protest, and the latter later went on to write a book” on the case against Trump— a person who was still under investigation and not charged with, let alone convicted of, any crime ,” he continued, alleging that the former president had fallen victim to” pressure campaign” in an effort to gather evidence against him.

However, the” politics may have turned” against Bragg as” even Democrats are hard pressed to defend the reported basis for the indictment ,” which is” most significantly.” He pointed out that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer ( D – N ) was questioned last week regarding Bragg’s case. Y .) offered a mediocre effect and refused to express his support.

The law teacher argued that” Trump has claimed for decades that Democrats have used the criminal justice system against him, and Bragg even provided him with proof to support that promise.” ” Bragg fulfilled the tale of Trump, who is rising in the elections, with this basic political trial.”

Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, who spent several years in a federal prison after pleading guilty to tax scams and other costs, gave witness to the Manhattan grand jurors that was exonerated in the case over the past week or so. During Trump’s first presidential system, Cohen arranged the alleged hush money transactions to Daniels, whose true name is Stephanie Clifford.

Attorney Robert Costello, a different witness, testified before the grand jury in an effort to discredit Cohen’s witness by pointing out his prior convictions, in accordance with statements Cohen made to media outlets next year. Cohen has denied hiring Costello as a prosecutor and cast doubt on his social remarks in remarks to the internet and through his attorney.

Trump stated last week on Truth Social that Bragg had probably charge him next Tuesday, despite there being no indication that the DA’s office might. Trump incorrectly claimed he would be charged in a letter to House Republicans, according to Bragg, who has made several public comments about the condition.

A notice from three House GOP chairs, according to Bragg’s general lawyers,” just came after Donald Trump created a false assumption that he would be arrested the next day, and his attorneys reportedly urged you to act ,” was written earlier Thursday. Both facts are not a valid basis for legislative investigation. Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee( R – Ohio ), Bryan Steil, chair of House Administration Committee, and House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, president of Kentucky, sent Bragg a new letter on Saturday asking for more details about the case.

Trump has insisted on running for president in 2024 despite a potential prosecution hanging over his mouth. He vehemently denounced Bragg’s evaluation at a rally he held in Waco, Texas, in front of thousands of supporters, and afterwards said,” I think the DA dropped the case.”

Trump said to reporters on his plane after the rally on Saturday,” I believe they’ve already dropped the case … they have absolutely nothing.” Trump did not offer any supporting data for his assertion.

The Epoch Times has gotten in touch with Bragg’s practice to request reply.
