GOP Congressman Warns Of Fallout From Iran-Backed Missile Attacks In Syria
The alarm was raised by Rep. Mike Gallagher( R – WI ) regarding the repercussions of the current attacks on American bases in Syria.
Gallagher said on ABC’s” This Week” on Sunday that after Iranian-backed armies opened fire on U.S. military installations in the area on Thursday and Friday, the United States needed to take a stronger deterrent action against Iran.
According to Gallagher,” We should be worried that our warning position vis a – Iran is crumbling.” ” We can’t manage another deterrent fail like the one we witnessed in Ukraine.”
Late last year, militias supported by the U.S. and Iran traded knocks. Second, on Thursday, a coalition force maintenance service close to Hasakah in north Syria was attacked by an Iranian drone attack. One American company was killed, and five service users were injured. The United States began strikes in retaliation against the armies associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps on Thursday evening. Eight militants were killed by those attacks.
The militants again launched another attack on Friday. On Friday, the organizations launched missiles at a U.S. military installation close to the Al-Omar oil industry, but no one was hurt. At least eight missiles made contact with another American center in Deir Ezzor, northeast Syria, on Friday night. One American service member was hurt in the assault.
In Syria, military assaults on American soldiers are frequent. According to the Pentagon, 78 attacks on American soldiers in the nation have been carried out since 2021 by parties supported by Iran. According to The New York Times, the U.S. war has more than 900 soldiers and hundreds more companies in Syria working with Kurdish soldiers to prevent the Islamic State, which in 2014 ruled more of Syria and Iraq, from being able to rebuild itself.
Even though the Islamic State has been expelled from the majority of its territory, terrorist organizations are now active and attacking alliance forces.
