Ivy League Prof Bashes America at CCP Business Forum
Jeffrey Sachs, a Columbia University analyst, urges American officials to” relax down” regarding China.
A well-known Ivy League economist criticized the United States at a recent Chinese Communist Party business forum, saying that American leaders were” undermining” Chinese businesses like TikTok and” escalating” trade tensions with Beijing.
Jeffrey Sachs, a professor at Columbia University, called on American market leaders to” relax down” in their attitude toward China at the China Development Forum.
He declared,” We don’t want fight; we want to create harmony, cooperation, and company.”
Sachs’ comments have been a helpful piece of propaganda for Beijing. Say media outlets like China Daily and Global Times praised the platform for easing political conflicts and criticized the United States.
The China Development Forum, billed as a substitute for the annual World Economic Forum held in Davos, is sponsored by the Development Research Center of the State Council, which provides social advice to the Chinese Communist Party. The forum’s key address was delivered by Ding Xuexiang, a prominent advisor to Chinese president xi Jinping. At the occasion, well-known market figures like Tim Cook of Apple and Albert Bourla of Pfizer also spoke.
Sachs has become a leading opponent of American foreign policy and is regarded as one of the most prominent economists in the world. Sachs, a former State Development Planning Commission consultant, has frequently criticized the United States on China’s state-run media sources. He referred to the United States government as the” greatest danger” to international regulations and world peace and accused liberals of waging an” unholy war” against China.
According to Sachs, who also charged liberals with wanting a cold war with China,” I don’t think China is the cause of the current issues; I think the tensions have primarily come from the United States hand.” He claimed in a CNN article from 2020 that Republicans had made” reckless and dangerous” claims that the coronavirus had originated as an accidental leak from an Wuhan, China, test. Since then, the FBI and additional U.S. news agencies have supported that possibility.
Sachs is the director of Columbia’s Center for Sustainable Development, which provides advice to governments and businesses around the world on” sustainable development agenda and best practices ,” and he was invited to the China Development Forum to speak on the subject of” safeguarding global energy confidentiality.” The Lancet COVID – 19 Commission, a blue-ribbon panels that investigates the causes of the coronavirus pandemic as well as immunizations and other issues related to it, is led by Sachs through the foundation.
In the persistent Russia-Ukraine conflict, Sachs has more recently adopted a significant stance toward the United States. He has pushed the unproven theory that crude was transported from Russia to Europe via the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which was destroyed by the US authorities. He has echoed a well-liked Kremlin talking point by accusing the United States of using Ukraine to pay an intermediary war against Russia.
