Focus On Nashville Shooter’s Transgender Identity A ‘Distraction,’ Says CNN Analyst
CNN’s national security analyst, Juliette Kayyem, has dismissed the emphasis on the transgender identity of the Nashville school shooter. According to Kayyem, the gender identification of the shooter is a “distraction” and it is essential to establish the motive of the killer to understand the massacre. The shooter, identified by the police as a 28-year-old female who identified as a male, murdered three 9-year-old children and three adults at a Christian elementary school. The killer used male pronouns and a male name. Despite the rarity of female biological mass shooters, there have been several transgender or non-binary mass shooters in recent years. Kayyem emphasised that there is still much to consider regarding this shooting, and that the murderer’s gender identity may prove to be irrelevant.
A former classmate who knew the shooter pre-transition claimed, “When she transitioned, no one was surprised.”
