Priyanka Chopra Discusses Leaving Bollywood For Hollywood: ‘Tired Of The Politics’
Actress Priyanka Chopra discussed making the switch from India’s Bollywood to the American movie industry.
“I was being pushed into a corner in the industry. I had people not casting me for reasons. I had a beef with people. Again, I’m not good at playing that game. I was tired of the politics,” Chopra told Dax Shepard on his “Armchair Expert” podcast on March 27.
The 40-year-old celebrity mentioned that she took issue with top actresses in India making less than their male counterparts.
” Movies are now being sold on the individual and the child.” The new generation entered and demanded change, saying,” Great, make a Bollywood blockbuster, but with me too ,” she continued.
Chopra, who is wed to Nick Jonas, a recording artist, claimed that Hollywood celebrity differs from Indian popularity.
She remarked of Bollywood stars,” I don’t think you guys have seen that fame.” Tom Cruise, I believe, has not seen that. We have stars with that loyalty and love, but I’m not that.
The artist already talked about Bollywood’s fascination with skin tone.
” I was made fun of in a lot of films.” using beauty, followed by blasting lighting. There was a track that I can still hear today. It was titled” Chitti Dudh Kudi ,” which translates to” a girl who is as white as milk, and I ain’t that, but I was playing her and was really lightened up in the movie ,” Chopra recalled.
She continued,” If you were darker- I’m not even that dark– for darker ladies it was:” This soften you up ,” adding that she had created an advertisement for skin-lightening treatment in which a woman was shown attracting attention after applying it.
Recently, Chopra and Jonas gained notoriety when they welcomed their second child through replacement, a choice the actress defended earlier this year.
“I had medical complications,” Chopra told British Vogue in an interview for their February cover story. “This was a necessary step, and I’m so grateful I was in a position where I could do this. Our surrogate was so generous, kind, lovely, and funny, and she took care of this precious gift for us for six months.”
The former Miss World competition prize continued,” You don’t know me.” You are unaware of my struggles. And just because I don’t need my medical history or that of my daughter to be made people does not give you the right to infer whatever the justifications were.
