Authorities Release 911 Calls Made During Nashville Christian School Shooting
The authorities in Nashville have released the audio recordings of the 911 calls that came in after a 28-year-old woman, who identified as a man, shot her way into Covenant School and fatally shot three adults and three 9-year-old children. The calls reveal the panic and chaos that unfolded inside the school.
The first caller sounded confused as multiple voices talked over each other. A second caller provided specific details about what he witnessed. Another woman told the dispatcher that she heard about 10 gunshots before leaving the building. The last call came from a teacher who heard gunshots and was in the art room. The teacher grew more panicked as she heard more gunfire.
Bodycam footage from officers Rex Engelbert and Michael Collazo showed a team of Nashville Metro police officers rushing through the school building, locating the shooter on the second floor, and taking her out within minutes of arriving on the scene. Nashville Police Chief John Drake said the shooting was a “targeted attack.”
