Stimulus update: Direct payment worth up to $400 to be paid to Massachusetts residents in 14 days
In a couple of weeks, the recipients of Chelsea Eats program in Chelsea, Massachusetts, will receive their next payment worth up to $400.
This program provides payments ranging from $200 to $400, to a total of 738 households, and the second installment will be issued on April 15. It will help Massachusetts residents to buy food and pay their utility bills. According to a spokesperson of the Chelsea city, recipients will receive payments via debit cards distributed to them in early March, which they should use to receive this second payment.
The amount of money each recipient will get from this payment depends on the size of their household. For instance, a household of one will receive $200, while a household of two will receive $300, and any household with three or more people will receive $400.
This program intends to issue payments to recipients on the 15th of each month for three months, and after the last payment in May, there are no plans to continue the program, a spokesperson confirmed. However, additional information about this program can be found on Chelsea’s webpage on COVID-19 emergency assistance programs.
To qualify for this program, Chelsea residents applying must have a household income of 30% less than the area median. For a household of one, that would be $29,450, and for a household of two, it would be $33,650. The limit increases slightly for each additional person in a household.
