Matt Walsh Slams Build-A-Bear For Drag Queen Stuffed Teddy Bear
Daily Wire host Matt Walsh has condemned popular toy company Build-A-Bear for adding a teddy bear inspired by drag queens to its product lineup on Thursday.
Build-A-Bear is a well-loved retailer among children in the United States, who visit the store to personalize stuffed animals according to their preferences, creating a unique experience. However, this new addition to its inventory is not suitable for young children.
RuPaul, a 62-year-old celebrity drag queen, announced the collaboration with the retailer through an Instagram video on Wednesday. The pre-stuffed brown bear wears a gold one-shoulder gown and has gold eyeshadow, heavy eyeliner, red lipstick, and a blonde wig. It also features high heels that can be purchased separately.
The RuPaul bear has been advertised on the Build-A-Bear website’s landing page, intended for both adults and children. However, it also contains a section called The Bear Cave, which contains unexpected collaborations and distinct plush gifts, intended for 18-year-old and older shoppers only.
Matt Walsh criticized the company’s decision to sell the bear. “Remember: there’s absolutely no agenda to groom your kids. Don’t be ridiculous. On an unrelated note, [Build-A-Bear] is selling a drag queen stuffed bear for children,” he tweeted on Thursday.
