NBA-League and players reach tentative contract agreement
The NBA and the NBA Players Association have come to an agreement on a new labor contract, which still needs to be approved by both parties. Details were not disclosed at the time of the announcement, as they are still being finalized.
However, according to a source familiar with the negotiations, the new deal includes several notable changes such as the addition of an in-season tournament, the removal of marijuana from the list of banned substances, and the creation of a second luxury tax tier. The age limit to enter the NBA will remain 19 years old, meaning most high school players will need to wait at least one year before entering the league.
The NBA’s last work stoppage occurred in 2011, when players were locked out for over five months. There was no immediate response from either the NBA or the NBPA regarding the agreement.
