South Carolina Police Have Two Persons Of Interest In Stephen Smith Murder Case – And Neither Are Murdaughs

The South Carolina police have reportedly identified two people of interest in the 2015 murder of teenager Stephen Smith. According to local outlet FitsNews, the police have been investigating the case for years and have now narrowed down their search to these two individuals. It is worth noting that these persons of interest are not members of the Murdaugh family, who have been rumored to be connected to Smith’s death for some time.

The stepfather of one of the persons of interest provided information that pointed to the two individuals’ potential involvement in Smith’s death. The stepfather was reportedly encouraged to come forward by Randy Murdaugh, the brother of Alex Murdaugh, who was recently found guilty of murdering his wife and son.

The stepfather claims that his stepson told him that his friend was intoxicated and driving a vehicle that hit and killed Stephen Smith. The stepfather said that he passed the information on to investigators after being prompted by Randy Murdaugh to do so.

It is worth noting that Smith’s death was initially labeled as a hit-and-run by investigators. However, recent evidence has led investigators to rule the case as a homicide. The medical examiner’s report indicated that Smith had been struck in the head by a car mirror during the incident. Investigators found no car debris or glass in the area where Smith was found dead.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Buster Murdaugh has denied any involvement in Smith’s death. In a statement, he said, “These baseless rumors of my involvement with Stephen and his death are false. I unequivocally deny any involvement in his death, and my heart goes out to the Smith family.”
