Donald Trump indicted: Trump’s attorney says arraignment ‘feels like we’re on the eve of destruction’
The arraignment of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday has left his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, feeling like the country is “on the eve of destruction,” he told Sean Hannity during an interview on Fox News on Monday.
Tacopina also said the arraignment was “extraordinary,” as several people, including the Department of Justice, had denied there was a case against Trump.
During the interview, Hannity asked Tacopina whether there would be any surprises in Tuesday’s proceedings, such as Trump getting arrested or handcuffed. Tacopina did not answer directly, but confirmed Trump would plead “not guilty.”
Tacopina later denied the possibility of the judge placing a gag order on Trump and said that there was “zero chance” Trump would plead guilty to any of the charges, claiming that he “did nothing wrong — not a misdemeanor, not a felony, not a traffic ticket. There is nothing here.”
Trump is expected to be fingerprinted at the New York Supreme Court, where the arraignment will take place on Tuesday. He will then fly back to Florida to speak at his Mar-a-Lago resort that evening.
The arraignment comes less than a week after Trump was indicted by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in connection with a $130,000 “hush money” payment to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.
Trump is facing at least one felony charge, and the full list of charges is expected to be unsealed following the arraignment.
