Mississippi Senator Endorses Trump the Night Before His Arraignment
On April 3, the day before former President Donald Trump’s arraignment, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) announced her support for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
Hyde-Smith was a former Democrat who switched parties in 2010 and became the first woman to represent Mississippi in Congress in 2018. Graham, for example, has called Trump’s indictment “shocking, dangerous, and one of the most irresponsible decisions in American history by any prosecutor.”
Hyde-Smith praised Trump’s policies that she said improved America, such as securing the U.S.-Mexico border, cutting taxes, appointing conservative judges, increasing wages, and making the country energy independent. She also commended Trump for cultivating a healthy economy and garnering respect from nations around the world.
According to Hyde-Smith, Trump has been attentive to the needs of Mississippi, making several trips to the state. For these reasons, she announced her endorsement of Donald J. Trump for another term in the White House and will work to help him win the Republican nomination for President in 2024.
