In Fiery Concession Speech, Wisconsin Supreme Court Candidate Skewers ‘Not Worthy’ Liberal Winner

Daniel Kelly, the recent loser of the Wisconsin Supreme Court race, harshly accuses justice-elect Janet Protasiewicz of lying and of demeaning the judiciary with her behavior.

Former Wisconsin Supreme Court judge Daniel Kelly did not hold back in his concession speech after losing the recent election to liberal opponent Janet Protasiewicz. He called her a “serial liar” and stated that she was “not a worthy opponent.”

Kelly expressed his disappointment, saying, “I wish that in a circumstance like this, I would be able to concede to a worthy opponent. But I do not have a worthy opponent.” Kelly acknowledged that he lost by 11% in a race that will give the state’s Supreme Court a left-wing majority.

Protasiewicz comes with some baggage as a Milwaukee Circuit Court judge who has faced criticism for giving light sentences to violent criminals. During the campaign, the topic of abortion was a central issue, with Protasiewicz campaigning against the state’s ban and receiving considerable donations from Democratic megadonor George Soros and Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker (D.).

Kelly, who served on the court from 2016 to 2020, did not hold back in his criticisms of the campaign. He called the tactics used during the race “beneath contempt” and described the campaign as “the most deeply deceitful, dishonorable, despicable campaign” he had ever seen for a judicial race.

Kelly added that he was not raising his concerns due to his loss, but rather out of the damage that he believes has been done to the institution of the Court. Republicans in the state have already discussed impeaching Protasiewicz, with State representative Dan Knodl, who won reelection on Tuesday, saying that since the Republicans hold a two-thirds majority in the state Senate, it is possible to impeach and remove judges, and that such powers “certainly would be tested.”

Kelly finished his speech with a poignant comment: “She’s disregarded judicial ethics, she’s demeaned the judiciary with her behavior. This is the future we have to look forward to in Wisconsin.” During the campaign, Protasiewicz released several dangerous criminals, including a domestic abuser who was later convicted of attempted murder.
