Chicago PD Under Investigation After It ‘Likes’ Travis Tritt Tweet Slamming Bud Light’s Partnership With Dylan Mulvaney

Internal Affairs has been called in to investigate the Chicago Police Department’s official Twitter account “liking” a tweet from country star Travis Tritt who slammed Bud Light’s partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, a trans-identifying biological male.

A spokesperson for Chicago PD confirmed to the Chicago Sun Times on Thursday that an investigation was underway by the department’s Bureau of Internal Affairs after a complaint was filed.

The complaint was made after a photo surfaced showing that the department had “liked” Tritt’s tweet in which the singer said he was boycotting Anheuser-Busch products following news of the company’s promotional deal with the trans activist.

“I will be deleting all Anheuser-Busch products from my tour hospitality rider. I know many other artists who are doing the same,” Tritt shared on Twitter Wednesday evening.

Tritt later tweeted, “In full disclosure, I was on a tour sponsored by Budweiser in the 90’s. That was when Anheuser-Busch was American owned. A great American company that later sold out to the Europeans and became unrecognizable to the American consumer. Such a shame.”

On Friday, Interim Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department Eric Carter tweeted that they take the “liking” of Tritt’s tweet seriously.

“The Chicago Police Department does not tolerate bigotry,” Carter wrote. “This week, there was an unauthorized ‘like’ of a tweet that does not represent the values of our Department. We take this matter seriously and have launched an internal investigation into the matter.”

The country star’s post followed others from John Rich and Kid Rock, who called out the company on social media after Mulvaney posted a viral video revealing the partnership with Bud Light.

Rich tweeted, “What beer should my bar [Redneck Riviera] in Nashville replace #BudLight with?”

While Kid Rock posted a video on Twitter showing him shooting several cases of Bud Light.

“Grandpa’s feeling a little frisky today,” the 52-year-old singer captioned the post. “Let me say something to all of you and be as clear and concise as possible. F*** Bud Light. And f*** Anheuser-Busch. Have a terrific day.”
