Erick Erickson: What Is Truth?

Two thousand years ago, a group of soldiers killed Truth by beating it to within an inch of its existence, nailing Truth to the bridge, and raising it into the air. Wisdom emerged from the grave three days later. Good Friday is regarded as one of, if not the, most significant historical occurrences by actually secular historians.

Jesus was the embodiment of the reality. In comparison to many other historical figures, including Roman emperors, we have written more about him, documenting his life, and are closer in time to it. On Palm Sunday, a crew greeted Jesus with palm trees as he entered Jerusalem. The crew demanded that Pontius Pilate perform Truth and release Barrabas, a prisoner at war with the public, five days later, on Good Friday. The men who desired King Jesus came to the conclusion that His method was not what they desired. They desired a battle with the authorities.

Progressives and conservatives are free to infer their private interpretations from the narrative. I create them. In America, progressives worship the god of self, which is manifested as a conflict with the truth of God as revealed in the laws of nature. Although it is physiologically impossible for men to become women, those who are at odds with reality and who worship themselves may redefine truth and reinvent themselves in the most sensual and narcissistic ways possible. The fact that God commands them to love their neighbour and put their faith in Him for their salvation, not in a democratic savior, is manifested in American conservatives’ worship of the idol of self. They may abandon Christ in favor of a Barrabas who had rule the Left.

Christ ought to exhort us all to turn from our deities. All of us should have hope in Christ’s’s resurrection because that hope is the unwavering certainty of a Lord who has risen. Americans on the right want a political lord to spare their nation because they are so concerned about its future. However, a great deal of them put their hearts at risk by working so hard to conserve their nation. Because Americans on the Left are so eager to be their own angels, secularism has become its own faith, complete with priests and prophets as well as kings. There are also sacraments and liturgies in addition to other religious practices. This religion forbids rival sects from congregating in the common space.

Christ, however, is Truth. From the tomb, the truth emerged. Reality is unkillable. It will love lies and thrust the hearts of those who have grown cold and make them comfortable. In the end, truth triumphs, and all of our gods may be reduced to dust.
