Lori Lightfoot’s Replacement Proposes Sending Social Workers to Crime Scenes

Brandon Johnson( D ), the incoming mayor of Chicago, revealed to CBS News on Thursday his strategy for addressing the city’s’s crime problem: sending more social workers to crime scenes.

Johnson, a fervent liberal, used cases where officers killed black soldiers as proof that more police officers are not the answer.

Johnson said,” This is really about making sure consumers understand the context of the level of disappointment when you see that kind of violence repeatedly. It can be depressing.”

He continued,” We’re’re working to double the number of young people we hire, not just for summer jobs but for year-round positions.” ” We’ve’ve been pushing for this law known as” Training, Not Trauma.” In essence, calling requiring these kinds of treatments may be attended by first responders, social workers, counselors, and EMTs.

According to Johnson,” mental health crises” account for at least 40 % of the city’s’s 9-1-1 calls.

Some acts are not a big deal, as Johnson has demonstrated in the past. He refused to condemn the broad looting that occurred during the BLM riots when he was Cook County Commissioner in 2020, claiming there were reasons why people were robbing businesses at such a high rate.
