Kathleen Kennedy Spins New Narrative for Star Wars: “Quality Is Always Everything”
In an effort to promote new movies and television shows, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy reportedly gave Star Wars a new spin.
Kennedy was questioned by IGN’s’s Alex Stedman about whether there was any significant promise in the brand-new Star Wars period that you just announced today.
It’s’s as I said, I think quality is always everything, Kennedy retorted. We want to share compelling tales that accurately describe what Star Wars is.
She came to the conclusion that neither she nor any of us just wanted it to turn into everything else. ” We want it to be something that keeps upping fans’ expectations.” And that’s’s what matters most to us all.

Given that Kennedy’s’s whole tenure as president of Lucasfilm has resulted in films and television shows of mediocre good, it is unclear what she really means by” good.”
The Last Jedi, which Rian Johnson directed, has the biggest dark eye. On IMDb, the movie’s’s weighted total is only 6.9. With spectators giving the movie an average of 2.6 out of 5, it has an even more pitiful 42 % Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In addition to receiving negative reviews for its function films, Star Wars’ flagship TV show, The Mandalorian, is currently receiving the worst user ratings it has ever received.
IMBd has a 6.5 weighted average for the most recent episode of” Guns for Hire ,” which featured Lizzo and Jack Black. In actuality, the most cause season has posted the three worst rated shows of the show’s’s existing run in addition to the worst score for the entire series. On IMDb,” Section 19: The Convert” has a weighted average of 7.1, and” Charter 17: The Apostate” does the same.

And despite Kennedy’s’s assertion that she is putting good first, this is intentional. Kennedy made an appearance at Fortune Magazine’s’s Most Amazing Women Summit in 2015 before The Force Awakens was released, where she outlined her strategy for fundamentally altering Star Wars.
Kennedy demonstrated during her face how, after taking over, she promptly altered the company’s’s demographics.
Kennedy remarked,” The Walt Disney Company’s’s acquisition of the business has been incredible because they strongly support our efforts to increase the number of women employed in administrative roles and across the board within the organization.”
And with the films we are producing and the main characters we include in the reviews. I therefore have a lot of support for that ,” she continued.
However, 50 % of our professional team is made up of wives, she continued. Additionally, six out of every eight members of my report team are female. And I’m’m sure many people would be shocked to learn that we’re’re producing Star Wars films with a predominately female cast. And I believe it is significantly affecting the stories we are attempting to ascertain.

Kennedy acknowledged that the company had fundamentally altered its employees and that it had already changed its marketing strategy, moving from being essentially a boys’ and men’s’s franchise to one for women and girls.
She went on to say,” I believe the conversation we had about consumer goods was the interesting path we’ve’ve taken.” Because there were many businesses in the room who, to be completely honest, didn’t immediately think Star Wars was for females.
And when you have a business environment where Lucasfilm and Disney were all looking at this situation and saying,” No, we have to change this with Star Wars ,” Kennedy continued. We must make sure that our merchandise appeal to both boys and girls in some way. What’s’s the matter with that?
When asked for an instance, it was mainly focused on making products for women, despite her promise that she wanted it to appealing to both boys and girls.
Kennedy remarked,” I mean actually with basic items like t-shirts.” This young women, who joined Lucasfilm in 2009, has a wonderful story to tell. She appeared in both Rebels as Ahsoka and in Clone Wars as well. She also asked Lucasfilm in 2009 why their dresses weren’t tied to Star Wars for females. And after much struggle, she founded a company called Her Universe, and it’s’s doing incredible company.
When Kennedy admitted she gutted the company’s’s workers and decided to alter it in her appearance, it is highly unlikely that Lucasfilm and Star Wars will begin producing products of a higher caliber. She not only changed the business in her look, but she also made significant changes to the target market for the company.
Kennedy’s’s basic goal is unlikely to ever be altered given that she is still in charge. And even if she were to be fired, it would only be worse or more of the opposite for one of her followers to take her place.

The fact that Kennedy is saying the company needs to concentrate on good is in fact the most intriguing aspect of her original claim. For statements would never be made by a business that is really producing high-quality goods. They are gushing about how great their material is, and it speaks for itself.
Kennedy is therefore through here implying that their product is of very poor quality. This is a covert, or perhaps even unconscious, admission that she is aware that the company’s’s films and TV shows have been of the highest caliber under her leadership.
How do you feel about Kennedy’s’s different interpretation of Star Wars?
