Michigan Gov. Whitmer Repeals Nearly Century-Old Abortion Law
On Wednesday, Michigan’s’s pro-abortion governor A 1931 state law prohibiting abortion in the state was repealed by Gretchen Whitmer( D ).
Whitmer referred to the pro-life legislation as a” vampire law” during the signing ceremony because it predates the historic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal in the United States. Roe was dismissed by the Supreme Court in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s’s Health Organization case last summer.
This act is a mutant law, not one that can be activated. Whitmer said during the ceremony,” This predates Roe, and it’s’s a threat of coming back to haunt us all.” Who would like to see me kill a monster?
” A up that had been granted to Americans for almost 50 years was revoked when Roe was overturned.” The idea that my sons may have fewer rights than I did as a child horrified me. Whitmer added on Twitter,” While other states were restricting connection, we took steps to protect reproductive rights ,” adding that she had filed a lawsuit that had led to an order against the 1931 law in the event that Roe overturned it.

Whitmer wrote, obviously oblivious to the newborn life that pregnancy ends,” By being vigilant, we saved lives.”
Before a ballot initiative that enshrined abortion rights in the state’s’s constitution( via The Hill ) was passed, it was reportedly ruled that the law would not be enforced in Michigan.
Voters enshrined abortion rights in the constitution in November after a Michigan judge ruled in September that the ban was unconstitutional and violated the state’s’s constitution.
Whitmer and the state’s’s Democrats wanted to repeal the law even though it was no longer legal as a result of the poll program.
Next month, the Michigan House voted 58 to 50 in favor of reform, with the backing of two Republicans. A few days ago, the Michigan Senate did the same.
Whitmer, like some pro-abortion administrators, urged women to come to her position to get the process during the meeting.
Now perhaps you should come to Michigan, she said, to all the female, ladies, and our friends in states that don’t cost you or your right.
