Newsom says ‘scared’ DeSantis signed gun law from office out of fear of dissenters
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) says he believes the reason Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed a “constitutional carry” law behind closed doors was because he is “scared of the people.”
DeSantis signed the law next week, abolishing the requirement that residents obtain special permits or pay additional fees in order to carry a gun outside of their homes, but Newsom asserts that he did not do so at an official gathering due to unpopularity.

The National Rifle Association did support the constitution, and there are similar laws in 25 many states across the nation.
In addition to talking about gun legislation, Newsom claimed that the shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, next month inspired him to embark on a tour of Republican-led states in order to challenge the state officials.
DeSantis, who is thought to be a good Republican presidential candidate for 2024, has long been viewed as Newsom’s’s outspoken opponent. In the same discussion, Newsom criticized DeSantis for appearing frail in his subsequent actions to Trump, calling it” weakness masquerading as power.”
Newsom ran adverts in Florida in July 2022, calling Florida the” position where we really believe in freedom” and criticizing DeSantis. While Newsom requested in a letter to the Justice Department in September 2022 that Florida and Texas be prosecuted for transporting immigrants to liberal cities like New York City and Martha’s’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. In effect, DeSantis quavered that Newsom’s’s” hair conditioner was interfering with his mind purpose.”
