Audit reveals that printers and vote measurements are to blame for Arizona’s’s election problems in 2022.
An outside review of ballot printing mishaps in Maricopa County during the 2022 midterm elections that caused long lines and vote tabulation delays in critical Arizona races blamed the headaches on printer failures and paper ballot thickness.

A BALLOT PRINTER DEBCLE Research BY A FORMER ARIZONA SUPREME COURT JUSTICE TO SPEARHEAD
Ruth McGregor, a former judge of the Arizona Supreme Court, was hired by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors in January to lead an investigation into the causes of printer performance problems during the general election after performing well in the elections. Almost one-fourth of the Election Day election locations in the region had trouble printing or tabulating ballots.
According to McGregor’s’s report, which was released on Monday, older printers failed to maintain the fire levels required to write ballots that were dark enough to be read by on-site tabulators, as well as the length and thickness of the votes.
This statement is precisely what we required. Vice Chairman Jack Sellers of the Board of Supervisors stated in a statement that the report was an objective evaluation of what had happened and offered several suggestions for what to do next. You can be assured that our Board did get any necessary actions to guarantee that in-person citizens have the understanding they deserve in 2024, whether it be replacing printing, using new report, or altering the way we test gear before an election.
