Faith-Based Film ‘His Only Son’ Rakes In $11 Million At Box Office Despite Low Production Budget, Minimal Marketing

The faith-based film “His Only Son” has defied box office expectations despite a very low production budget and minimal marketing efforts, bringing in $11 million at the domestic box office since it opened ten days ago.

The Angel Studios biblical drama was produced, edited, written, and directed by David Helling. It tells the Old Testament story of Abraham, who was commanded by God to sacrifice his only son Isaac.

According to the standard film description, Abraham was commanded by God to sacrifice his son Isaac on the hills of Moriah, which is one of the most contentious events in the Old Testament. Abraham and Sarah’s’s years of longing for the son they were promised— the son he must now lay on the altar — are flooded with vivid memories as they travel to the site of the sacrifice with Isaac and two servants.

The film was produced on a tiny budget of $250,000. Advertising was done via a crowdfunding campaign in partnership with Angel Studios, which raised more than $1.2 million for prints and advertising costs, per a report from Collider. Angel Studios said it was the first-ever crowdfunded film with a nationwide theatrical release.

Last weekend,” His Only Son” placed third, followed by” Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” and” John Wick: Chapter 4.” Due to the enormous success of” The Super Mario Bros. Movie ,” the faith-based movie was knocked out of the top five over Easter weekend.

A manager who attended movie education on the G. I. produced” His Only Son is the” little amateur that could” on a meager budget. Jared Geesey, senior vice president of global transmission at Angel Studios, described the project as” Bill based on a report people have struggled with for untold millennia.”

He continued,” Our investors believed in the project and crowdfunded the P & A, so word could spread.” This movie competed with large workshop movies with sizable advertising budgets, but it still generates astounding numbers of returns. We have belief that the reader will repeatedly demonstrate that they are the future of this business with each new seeking they choose to support.
