Trump recounts courthouse scene in post-arraignment interview: ‘People were crying’
Former President Donald Trump made an appearance on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight and revealed how emotional the scene was when he was arraigned in Manhattan last week. He called the New York court a “prison” and reported that professionals who worked there were in tears. He said, “People that work there have no problems putting in murderers, and they see everybody. It’s a tough, tough place and they were crying. They were actually crying. They said I’m sorry.”
Trump faces 34 counts of falsifying business records as well as charges from a grand jury for a 2016 hush money payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels. This is the first time in the history of the United States that a former president has been indicted. He has pleaded not guilty to these charges.
Donations to Trump have increased since his indictment as Republicans, including some potential 2024 rivals, have rallied behind him against the charges. Many GOP voters view this case as an example of the justice system being “weaponized” against conservatives.
