Melania Trump Issues First Statement Following Donald Trump’s Indictment
A spokesperson for former First Lady Melania Trump has issued a statement in response to the speculative reports over her relationship with the former President Donald Trump, after his recent arraignment in Manhattan.
The Office of Melania Trump’s Twitter account released a statement on Tuesday, which said, “News organizations have made assumptions about the former First Lady’s stance on subjects that are personal, professional, and political over the past few weeks. In these articles, unnamed sources are cited to bolster the author’s claims.”
The statement further requested readers to use caution and good judgment when determining the accuracy of any story related to Melania Trump. The statement comes amid numerous speculative reports by the New York Post, Daily Mail, and other tabloids, with headlines like “Melania nowhere to be seen at Trump’s post-arraignment Mar-a-Lago speech” and “Melania seen for the first time after Trump’s arrest at Easter Brunch with the former President.”
However, the former first lady has not provided any further details on the matter, and instead posted “Happy Easter!” on her Instagram account on Sunday.
Last week, Donald Trump spoke to a crowd of supporters at Mar-a-Lago after his arraignment in Manhattan, where he was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records related to payments made to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election campaign. Despite pleading not guilty to the charges, Trump denied any wrongdoing in the speech and on his social media platform.
The event was attended by three of Trump’s children, his supporters, and other GOP candidates. Notably, a reporter from the NY Post asked the MyPillow CEO about Melania’s whereabouts, to which he replied, “I don’t know. I’m gonna go find out,” according to the Post.
Case
The prosecutors accused Trump of conspiring to undermine the 2016 presidential election by trying to suppress information that could harm his candidacy and then concealing the true nature of the hush money payments. The payments allegedly involved Stormy Daniels, former model Karen McDougal, and a doorman.
