NY Post Editorial Board: Kamala Harris Fails to Meet Nashville Survivors, Marking New White House Low
Vice President Kamala Harris visited Nashville, Tennessee last Friday to meet with Democratic lawmakers who were recently expelled, as well as with gun control advocates. However, she neglected to meet with victims of the mass shooting that had prompted the lawmakers’ expulsion.
The expulsions came after three legislators attended a gun control rally outside of the state Capitol that ended up moving into the House chamber, causing chaos as two lawmakers screamed their disapproval over a megaphone. A third lawmaker stood beside them in support (the third lawmaker later avoided expulsion by just one vote).
While the lawmakers’ behavior constituted a gross violation of democratic norms, it was bizarre that Harris did not also meet with survivors of the six people who were slain during the Audrey Hale mass murder at the Covenant School that had caused so much outrage in the first place.
Although the White House has invited the three democracy-endangering legislators, it has failed to invite the two hero cops who prevented the massacre from being much worse. The White House has also ignored the grieving families of the victims, which has raised some questions. Additionally, the FBI is refusing to release Hale’s manifesto publicly, supposedly because it connects her trans grievances to her deadly rampage.
Overall, it appears that, for the White House and Democrats generally, Hale’s trans status is enough to warrant the shooter, heroes, and victims’ disappearance. This is despite the politicians playing politics-as-usual on every other aspect of the tragedy.
All things considered, can President Biden’s pledges to unite us and protect our democracy get any shabbier?
