Ronna McDaniel defends pledge to back GOP nominee: ‘It’s about beating Joe Biden’
The Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, defended the Committee’s plan to require 2024 GOP presidential hopefuls to sign a pledge promising their support for the eventual nominee in order to participate in debates.
When asked about criticism over the pledge, McDaniel stated that it is essential for all candidates to pledge their support for the nominee in order to “beat Joe Biden” and “what’s happening in this country right now.”
Former President Donald Trump and former Governor Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) have raised concerns that the pledge could force them to support a candidate they do not agree with. However, McDaniel claims that it is necessary to have unity within the party to defeat the current administration.
The first debate is set to take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, moderated by Fox News, though the date of the debate has not been announced.
On a related note, Democrats announced that Chicago will host the 2024 Democratic National Convention. Ronna McDaniel commented on the news by saying that the convention will be an opportunity for the “radical agenda” of the Democrats to be “on full display for the world to see.”
