Germany’s Merck to invest 300 million euros in US gas plant

Merck, a German science and technology company, announced on Wednesday that it will invest approximately €300 million (equivalent to $327.90 million) toward constructing the world’s largest integrated specialty gas plant, located in Hometown, U.S.. The investment supports Pennsylvania state’s expansion plans for manufacturing capacity in the semiconductor industry, according to the statement.

The press release also disclosed Merck’s plans to invest “significantly more than €3 billion” in capacity expansions and innovation, with a goal of ensuring the success of its semiconductor solutions division.
