‘This Literally Never Happened’: Dana Loesch Levels Karine Jean-Pierre Over Assault Weapons Ban
White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, claimed that assault weapons bans are effective in decreasing gun violence, however, nationally syndicated radio host, Dana Loesch, presented evidence that shows otherwise.
During Monday’s briefing, Jean-Pierre responded to the news of another mass shooting in Louisville, Kentucky, calling for limits on magazine capacity and increased background checks, mentioning that assault weapons ban have resulted in lowered gun violence before.
Dana Loesch argued that Karine Jean-Pierre’s claim was simply untrue, and cited various sources including the Department of Justice, JAMA, RAND and The New York Times which all say that the 1994 assault weapons ban had not resulted in lowered gun violence.
Loesch pointed out that the gun homicide rate had not changed due to the ban’s enforcement and added that “the AWB had zero, none, nada effect on the gun homicide rate.”
She ended her argument by stating that “the firearms they incessantly blame for homicide are involved in the fewest homicides annually.”
