Feinstein Asks Schumer To Let Another Democrat Take Committee Spot; 2nd Democrat Calls For Resignation
Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein from California has requested that another Democrat takes her place on the Judiciary Committee due to her ongoing health issues. Feinstein has been struggling with health problems, including a case with shingles, which led to her hospitalization last month. She is currently working from San Francisco until her doctor deems it safe for her to travel. Her request aims to ensure that the important work of the Committee is not delayed while she is absent.
On the same day, fellow Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna from California called for Feinstein to resign, claiming she can no longer fulfill her duties. Another Democrat, Rep. Dean Phillips from Minnesota, agreed with Khanna, stating that “it’s now a dereliction of duty to remain in the Senate and a dereliction of duty for those who agree to remain quiet.”
