Democrat Congressman Calls For Dianne Feinstein To Resign Immediately: ‘Can No Longer Fulfill Her Duties’
Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna has called for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s resignation stating that she can no longer perform her duties in the U.S. Senate. Khanna, in his tweet, said that “While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties.” Feinstein, who is 89 years old, has been struggling with her health for some time now and was admitted to a hospital last month after being diagnosed with shingles.
Despite this, Senator Feinstein’s office released a statement in February, saying that she was not seeking re-election. When asked about this, she appeared to be confused initially but later confirmed that she is not seeking a re-election. Democrats have been concerned about how much longer Feinstein can serve in the U.S. Senate.
In a recent interview, Khanna had stated that he would instead endorse Barbara Lee (D-LA) and co-chair her campaign for the Senate. Feinstein has had a long career in politics, serving as a U.S. senator since 1992, but the congressman’s tweet indicates that it is time for a change in that position.
At this time, it is not yet known if Feinstein will respond to the call for resignation, but the issue has sparked discussion among politicians and citizens alike. It remains to be seen what steps will be taken going forward.
