Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe Says We Should ‘Trust Kids’ To Change Gender

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe recently disclosed in a conversation hosted by the LGBT nonprofit organization, the Trevor Project, that people should “trust kids” when it concerns changing gender.

Radcliffe expressed his disapproval of adults who question a child’s ability to determine whether they want to change their gender. The Times reported on Wednesday that the actor referred to this attitude as “condescending.” The discussion centered around the controversy surrounding children who identify as trans.

The LGBTQ non-profit organization, the Trevor Project, hosted the discussion.

In partnership with J.K. Rowling, HBO Max is creating a television adaptation of the Harry Potter series. The author has been criticized for her controversial views on transgenderism.

Out magazine tweeted, “We don’t want any new Harry Potter content if noted transphobe J.K. Rowling is involved.” Vulture critics have referred to the announcement of the adaptation as a “faithful adaptation of Harry Potter, announced with absolutely bullshit craven disdain for Rowling’s political impact…”

Rowling has allegedly received online threats for her views on transgenderism. “I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives,” she tweeted in 2020. “It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”
