Mike Pompeo says he is not running for president in 2024

Former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has confirmed that he will not be running for the Republican presidential nomination in the upcoming 2024 election. Across the political sphere, rumors had been circulating that Pompeo was considering a run, but he has now put those to rest.

Pompeo, who served as Secretary of State under former President Donald Trump, made his announcement to Fox News host Bret Baier on Friday. Pompeo later confirmed his decision via Twitter, saying “Susan and I have concluded, after much consideration and prayer, that I will not present myself as a candidate to become President of the United States in the 2024 election.”

This decision was made with Pompeo’s personal life in mind, and he stated that he intends to focus on his roles as a business leader and Bible school teacher. Although some of his fans may be disappointed with his announcement, he did acknowledge that he has not ruled out a run for office several years from now.

Pompeo has had an impressive career thus far, having served as the Director of the CIA and a member of the House of Representatives. With his decision to bow out of the presidential race, he is now the latest conservative leader to solidify their plans for the future. Others who are running for the nomination include former South Carolina GOP Governor and U.N. Ambassador, Nikki Haley, former Arkansas GOP Governor Asa Hutchinson, and entrepreneur and author Vivek Ramaswamy.

However, other potential contenders are still considering their options, such as Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), former Vice President Mike Pence, and Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL). These individuals are expected to announce their decisions later this year.
