Blinken claims classified documents leak has ‘not affected’ US cooperation with allies

Secretary of State Antony Blinken argued on Saturday that the recent leaks from the Pentagon have not deterred cooperation between the United States and its allies.

The U.S. has engaged with its allies in the wake of the leaks, according to Blinken’s’s statement, which was made during a Q & A session at the conclusion of his press conference.” We have made clear our commitment to safeguarding intelligence and our engagement to our security partnerships ,” he said.

Blinken remarked,” At least from what I’ve’ve heard so far, it’s’s an appreciation for the steps we’re’re taking, and it hasn’t affected our cooperation.” I simply haven’t noticed that. I’ve’ve never heard of that. Of all, the inspection is progressing as planned. As you are aware, a defendant is currently in custody, but more importantly, I am aware that steps are being taken to further protect content. However, based on the conversations I’ve’ve had so far, I haven’t heard anything that would jeopardize our ability to work together with allies and partners.

Following the FBI’s’s arrest of 21-year-old Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira on Thursday, Blinken made his statement. He was charged under the Espionage Act with illicit removal of categorized information and defence materials, as well as with loyalty and distribution of national defense information, on Friday in a national court in Boston.

Teixeira is charged with releasing billions of sensitive information in a private talk on the messaging app Discord. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that he was made aware of the documents’ leakage on April 6 and that since April 7, military leaders have been meeting to discuss the situation on a daily basis.

Mick Mulroy, a former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East, accused Teixeira of leaking information that threatened national security by compromising the nation’s’s intelligence collection.

Mulroy told the Washington Examiner,” It is good enough that our enemies know what we know, or at least in aspect.” If our opponents know how we know it, it is really good. That refers to our resources and approaches. They will examine the available information and use them to start their own intelligence operations.
