DeSantis Targets ‘Cultural Marxism,’ Vows ‘War on Woke’ at Liberty University
New off signing a six-week abortion ban into law the day before, Florida Governor LYNCHBURG, Va. Before receiving an honorary degree of the Doctorate of Humanities at Liberty University on Friday, Ron DeSantis vowed to continue fighting the” war on woke” to about 9, 000 students.
DeSantis praised Florida as the” refuge of sanity” and” a ray of hope” when” freedom and our very own way of life … withered on the vine” in the country when speaking to young evangelicals at the twice-weekly convocation service, which the school refers to as” the world’s’s largest gathering of Christian students.”
According to him, his battle against woke worldview— what he called” social Marxism”— and Americans” voting with their feet” are directly responsible for Florida’s’s community development and his reelection defeat last year.
As the audience cheered loudly, he said,” We have made Florida the state where woke goes to die.”
His statements criticizing biological males competing in women’s’s sports and outlawing the use of puberty blockers or sex change procedures on minors in Florida were also well received by the audience. We must pay a war on woke because it stands for the truth, he continued.
The government began by expressing his gratitude to Liberty University students for their prayers for his family Casey’s’s breast cancer recovery. Casey received a diagnosis in 2021 and passed away from cancer soon next year. ” The prayers we received as a result of that made us feel better ,” he said. The prayer have been heard, they say.
He concluded by saying that he” looked forward to the battles ahead” in the” war on truth” and that” I will fight the good fight.” I will complete the competition. I’ll’ll maintain my faith.
both” Uplifting” and” Inspiring.”
Senior Giulia Nicole, a home high school student, described DeSantis’ speech as” encouraging.” She has been enrolled in Liberty University’s’s on double membership program and will start attending full-time in August with an accounting major.
She told The Epoch Times,” Many times when you hear people speak, you kind of leave feeling like the world is just going downhill and there’s’s not much hope.” ” Gov. DeSantis was incredibly motivating. I feel inspired just now, so he was a breath of fresh air. The outlook doesn’t worry me in the least. I therefore certainly enjoyed his address.
She spent even the weekend at the commencement with her child Carla Nicole, mother Maria Shoemaker, and friend Savannah Dudzik, a Floridian from Lynchburg.
I would only say that I was intrigued. I’m’m a little bit more impressed each time he speaks. He is now sincere. And that kind of person is needed in elections, Dudzik, a Tampa Bay area resident, told The Epoch Times. ” People who are sincere and who can enlighten he’s’s not there for the masses are what we need.” He’s’s not there to receive the cheers. He is there to help the people. He is supporting us.
Shoemaker agreed with the governor’s’s assessment of the state of affairs at the time. She claimed that for the previous 15 years, she had been concerned about the social pattern. She added,” It looks like Marxism to us ,” and expressed concern for her offspring and grandchildren.
” Right was incredibly motivating for me. She told The Epoch Times that there are still leaders out there who are willing to stand up for what is right. ” And I think we have a chance if we can even work there and apparently band together to get men into authorities who can really change things in this country.”
A Lot of Buzzwords
DeSantis used” a lot of buzzwords ,” according to Sydney Steele, a senior major in business administration-humanitarian guide who will graduate this flower.
She told The Epoch Times,” I think he could have focused more on the laws rather than Democrat versus Republican because, unfortunately, the temple is made up of all kinds of people ,” and she added that she would welcome more distinct speakers at proposed convocations, perhaps including a mediator facilitating skewed conversation.
” DeSantis is very skilled at eliciting responses from others. Therefore, according to Steele, who also attended Virginia Gov., he is very personable and able to instantly connect with a gang. Statement by Glenn Youngkin in May 2022. ” I believe Youngkin is more intimate.”
DeSantis had the chance to share his personal devotion and connect with students on that point in a very large, faith-based school. She continued,” And I think that would have been really cool ,” adding that Youngkin had mentioned faith more.
DeSantis appeared to Steele to be” pretty strong.” That was necessary, she claimed. She places importance on” fixing school and simply going back to the foundation on which our nation was built.”
She supported Youngkin in the presidential election in November 2021 and hasn’t cast a ballot in any national elections as of yet because of her advanced stage. The self-described conservative and Republican said,” I don’t know ,” when asked to choose between DeSantis and Youngkin. I’m’m from Virginia.
” New Fresh Blood”
Carla Nicole, co-founder of Culture of Life 1972, a clothing industry that supports pro-life organizations, had never before heard DeSantis perform live. He was” very approachable ,” she said, in her opinion.
She also has two daughters, one of whom is a medical student at Liberty and the other of Giulia, who graduated from Liberty’s’s law education. She continued,” I enjoyed hearing him say that he would lead despite being Florida’s’s only leader.
She told The Epoch Times,” I love Trump, and I also like Younkin— we’re’re here in Virginia.” However, I believe that we require original, fresh heart. DeSantis, in my opinion, is that.
