Panasonic says it may build EV battery plant in Oklahoma

Toshiba( Reuters )- Japan’s’s Panasonic Holdings, a power source to Tesla Inc., announced on Sunday that it is thinking about constructing its second cell facility in the US in Oklahoma.

In an email to Reuters, Panasonic stated that it had” entered into an agreement with the State of Oklahoma that defines the registration and terms of the bonuses under Oklahoma’s’s LEAD Act.” The company was referring to an opportunity system the state had created to draw significant corporations to its MidAmerica Industrial Park in Pryor.

There aren’t any other particular choices that have been made by the business. According to the speech, we will share more information as it becomes available.

The decision by Panasonic to take Oklahoma into consideration, which was previously reported by the Kyodo news agency, comes as electric vehicle sales are rising, and other EV manufacturers besides lifelong Tesla customers are considering the Japanese conglomerate as a potential power supplier.

According to the Wall Street journal this month, Panasonic is in discussions with some Stellantis and BMW about constructing a new electric power plant in North America.

In July, the Chinese company decided not to build its second EV power plant in Oklahoma and therefore chose Kansas to produce Tesla batteries. There, state officials stated that an investment of up to$ 4 billion will result in 4, 000 new jobs.
