‘You Can Say The Craziest Thing’: Bill Maher Says No One Is ‘Canceled For Being Too Woke’
“Nobody ever get canceled for being too woke,” comedian Bill Maher observed in a short video clip that circulated on Twitter on Monday afternoon.
Maher, who joined Fox Nation host Piers Morgan for Monday’s episode of his interview-based show “Piers Morgan: Uncensored,” argued that people had been so throughly groomed by activists and social media that even when someone said something truly insane, the majority would simply nod and smile and behave as though they had never thought any differently.

“Nobody ever gets canceled for being too woke. So you can say the craziest thing, like ‘men can have babies’ and then nobody will — even though people are thinking, ‘well, that’s kind of nuts,’ nobody will say it. They’ll just fall in line,” Maher said.
“‘Uh, yeah, exactly, that’s what I’ve always thought,’” Maher continued in sarcastic tones, prompting laughs from Morgan. “‘Sure. I saw a dude who was glowing yesterday.’ And that’s the problem.”
“Totally insane,” the host responded.
“Cowardice,” Maher countered.
“Yes, it is. It’s moral cowardice,” Morgan agreed, but Maher suggested it was also “intellectual cowardice.”
Morgan went on to point out that some people were not speaking up because they were afraid — and for good reason, because they had seen other people get canceled for pushing back against certain agendas.
“They’ve seen people around them literally getting canceled, getting shamed and abused —” Morgan continued, and Maher agreed. “Hounded out of jobs — they think, ‘I don’t want it to happen to me.’”
Maher’s appearance on “Uncensored” comes just days after Morgan joined the comedian for his Friday evening show on HBO — alongside Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) — where the three addressed a number of topics.
Among those topics was a discussion on trans-identifying TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney, who recently inked advertising deals with major brands like Anheuser Busch staple Bud Light and sportswear brand Nike — the latter of which really bothered Morgan.
“I said that for someone who identified as a gay man until last year to be sporting a women’s sports bra, despite having no breasts, as ‘they’ pranced around like a clueless non-athlete, mimicking how a misogynist would scornfully depict a woman doing sport, struck me as a slap in the face to actual women,” Morgan reflected in a Monday op-ed for The New York Post.
He went on to note that, much to his surprise, Maher’s left-leaning audience appeared to agree with him. “It felt like a moment of reckoning, when an insane ideology hits the buffers of basic common sense, and the public knows it,” he wrote.
