DeSantis has been attempting to seize authority of the exclusive area that makes up the Walt Disney World Resort, but it has encountered some difficulties as Disney has struggled to uphold its independence.
Disney’s’s notes denouncing DeSantis’ push for the Parental Rights in Education Act last year sparked the conflict between the two, which resulted in the reorganization of the central Florida area. Since the district’s’s founding in 1967, Disney has maintained complete independence over it.
In order to undermine the state’s’s invasion, Disney struck a deal with the previous Reedy Creek Improvement District board prior to the restructuring, though DeSantis supporters are attempting to pass legislation to revoke that agreement.
Moody’s’s notice served to alert Disney that it might be in violation of state regulations if it withholds information going forward rather than making any demands for specific information from Disney. She said that as a result of the agreement, Disney’s’s records pertaining to the” development of Disney-owned properties in Florida, rate setting for utilities and other similar matters ,” where it” purports to exercise delegated government functions ,” could be made public.
