AOC supporters urge the court to challenge the contraception pill opinion in a victory lap.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) joined other Democrats in taking a victory lap over the Supreme Court’s decision to maintain access to a widely used abortion pill, suggesting that calls to defy lower court orders may have helped influence the decision.

According to Ocasio – Cortez in a tweet,” The court has devolved into an extremely political object that is quickly delegitimizing.” U.S. District Court Judge Matthew and Kacsmaryk may have contributed to the” open discussion of checking the court’s’s abuse of power and defying.”

Ocasio-Cortez was one of a select group of Democrats who urged President Joe Biden and his organization to disregard Kacsmaryk’s’s decision, which halted the FDA from approving mifepristone and restricted access to the pregnancy pill until the safety of the medication may be resolved in court. That decision was partially overturned by the 5th Circuit Court, which upheld the drug’s’s FDA approval but reinstated some restrictions that had already been lifted, like the requirement to administer the medicine in person.

The lower court’s’s decision was overturned by the Supreme Court on Friday, leaving access to the drug unaffected while the case is heard in court.

In his dissent, Justice Samuel Alito asserted that the Biden administration would likely not comply with court orders to ban the abortion pill — possibly referring to Democratic calls to defy the Texas decision.

Alito wrote,” The Government has not dispelled justifiable doubts that it would even follow an unfavourable order in these cases, much less choose to take police actions to which it has good objections.”

In response to his disapproval, Ocasio-Cortez argued that the choice itself was a good thing despite Alito’s’s” scene.”

She claimed that” the court is a political object presently engaged in excess and abuse of power.” ” SCOTUS’s’s careless behavior warrants a check from the [ legislative ] + executive branches in our system of checks and balances.” This is typical of how our system is made to prevent dictatorship.

If an appeal is filed after the lawsuit is resolved, the Supreme Court’s’s decision may be appealed and sent back to the high court. The argument, though, is probably not going to be heard until the following words, which coincides with the 2024 election cycle.
