“Enough is enough!” says Marvel actress as she throws in the towel on doing her own stunts. “This is beyond ridiculous!” she exclaims. It’s time for her to step back and let the professionals take over.
Elizabeth Olsen, the talented actress who plays Marvel’s Scarlet Witch, recently revealed that she’s not a fan of doing her own stunts. During an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Olsen explained that while some actors love the thrill of doing their own stunts, she’s not one of them. Colbert brought up a story about Olsen laughing during multiple takes of wire stunts, to which she replied, “Your stomach leaves you. It’s like, I guess, the joy people get on roller coasters, which I don’t get, but people love that feeling.”
Despite her initial enthusiasm, Olsen ultimately decided that it’s better for her stunt double to handle those sequences. “There is one in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ where I had to be dropped from 30 feet up and land. They wanted to drop me pretty quickly so that it looked like it had an impact, but I kept landing like Peter Pan, kind of like fencing? I was like, ‘Just use the double. This is so ridiculous — there is a double for a reason. Like, face replace …’ They do it all the time. And they used it,” she explained.
While Olsen did do a lot of her own stunts for the latest “Doctor Strange” film, she’s ready to give up on taking them on herself. “It’s a waste of everyone’s time because a stunt double does it so much better,” she said. We can’t blame her for wanting to leave the stunts to the professionals!
