Ocasio-Cortez is calling out Tucker Carlson and Fox News for their dangerous rhetoric that incites violence. She’s not afraid to explore the idea of regulating them. Let’s support her in holding these media outlets accountable for their harmful actions.

In a fiery interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) called out Fox News for inciting violence and urged Congress to explore ways to regulate the network. The conversation was sparked by Fox News’ recent $787 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, which AOC believes should have included an on-air acknowledgement of the network’s lies to viewers.

But the issue goes deeper than just one settlement. AOC pointed to the lead-up to the January 6th insurrection as evidence of the network’s dangerous rhetoric, and called for accountability for incitement of violence. She even went so far as to say that some of Fox News’ hosts, like Tucker Carlson, are clearly guilty of incitement.

This isn’t just a matter of free speech, AOC argued. Broadcast television, like Fox News, is subject to federal law and regulation, and it’s time for lawmakers to take a closer look at what’s allowed on air. As she put it, “This is the role we have to really explore through law as well.”

It’s clear that AOC isn’t afraid to speak truth to power, and her call for accountability is one that many Americans are likely to support. As we continue to grapple with the aftermath of the January 6th attack, it’s more important than ever to hold those who incite violence accountable for their actions.
