Anheuser-Busch Places Another Top Marketing Executive On Leave After Bud Light Transgender Controversy
Anheuser-Busch is in hot water again after partnering with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney for a paid marketing campaign for Bud Light. The controversy has resulted in the placement of another top marketing executive, Daniel Blake, on leave, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. Blake oversees marketing for Anheuser-Busch’s mainstream brands and is the boss of Bud Light’s Vice President of Marketing, Alissa Heinerscheid, who was also placed on leave last week. While the company claims that the decision to take a leave of absence was voluntary, sources familiar with the matter suggest otherwise. Anheuser-Busch is now making internal adjustments to ensure that senior staff are fully connected to decisions about brand activities. Despite the setback, the company remains committed to brewing great beer for all consumers and making a positive impact in communities and the country. In a recent podcast, Heinerscheid championed inclusivity and the need to change Bud Light’s brand to attract young drinkers. She emphasized the importance of representation and shifting the tone to appeal to both men and women. However, some critics have accused her of promoting an “extreme woke strategy” and smearing former customers as “fratty and out of touch.”
