Whoopi Goldberg Leads ‘The View’ Audience in Celebration of Tucker Carlson’s Ouster From Fox News
Hold onto your hats, folks! Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of The View, led an epic on-air celebration on Monday after Fox News announced it was cutting ties with star host Tucker Carlson. The studio audience erupted in cheers as Goldberg read from a statement in which Fox News said Carlson and the network “agreed to part ways” and expressed appreciation for “his service to the network.”
Goldberg then called for a “wave” and stood up, throwing her hands in the air. The five other female hosts on stage followed Goldberg’s lead, laughing as the crowd whooped in unison. Carlson has long been a favorite bogeyman on The View, ABC’s long-running daytime talk show.
The end of Carlson’s 14-year tenure at Fox News was cheered by his many critics in mainstream media. NBC News “disinformation reporter” Ben Collins tweeted a clip from the music video for Walking on Sunshine. He later added, “Tucker’s show was uniquely toxic…. He sat atop a pipeline of lies. Its absence will be very noticeable.”
But not everyone was happy about the news. Donald Trump Jr. told Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk on The Charlie Kirk Show, “I mean, I think it changes things permanently. That’s one of the few voices in the Republican party that would call out the nonsense from GOP senators, governors, and otherwise. You know, an actual thought leader in conservatism.”
According to various news reports, Carlson did not agree to leave Fox News, but rather was pushed out by executives at the network. Carlson has yet to publicly address his departure.
On Friday, in what Fox News said was the final episode of Carlson’s primetime show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” the host signed off: “We’ll be back on Monday.”
