ALERT: Biden Taps Nepo Baby With Troubled Past To Manage Reelection Campaign

Julie Chavez Rodriguez: A Grandfather’s Legacy and a Checkered Past

What’s the buzz? President Joe Biden is gearing up for his 2024 reelection campaign, and he’s chosen Julie Chavez Rodriguez as his campaign manager.

Who is Julie Chavez Rodriguez? She’s a nepo baby, meaning she owes her success to her famous grandfather, labor activist Cesar Chavez. She started her career as a program director at the Cesar Chavez Foundation.

Does she have any campaign experience? Sort of. She volunteered on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008 and worked in various roles at the White House. She was later appointed state director for Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) and served as national political director and traveling chief of staff during Harris’s ill-fated presidential campaign in 2019.

Rodriguez then joined the Biden campaign and became director of intergovernmental affairs at the White House, where she’s been a “major ally” of Harris’s, according to Reuters.

Why it matters: Harris’s 2020 campaign was a disaster, plagued by infighting and demoralized staff. Rodriguez’s most relevant work experience involves one of the most poorly managed political campaigns in modern history. And yet, she’s been chosen to run Biden’s reelection campaign. Good luck!
