Biden goes on the attack as he launches reelection bid with speech to union
President Joe Biden made his first public remarks since announcing his 2024 reelection campaign at the legislative conference of North America’s Building Trades Unions. In his speech, he took aim at former President Donald Trump, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and Republican lawmakers. Despite his intention to run again in 2024, Biden only launched his bid on Tuesday morning with a campaign video. Later that day, he boasted about being the “most pro-union president” in U.S. history and claimed his legislative wins will bring back manufacturing jobs and reduce costs for families. He also attacked Trump, McCarthy, and “MAGA Republicans” for trying to cut benefits for seniors and risking U.S. credit by threatening not to raise the debt limit. Biden ended his speech on a positive note, expressing optimism about America’s future and the job creation that is happening. Watch his full remarks below.
