White House Flips Into Clean-Up Mode Immediately After Biden Declares Re-Election Bid
President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign announcement has caused quite a stir at the White House. Hours after the announcement, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked if Biden plans to serve a full eight years if re-elected in 2024. Her response was vague, creating uncertainty and concern about Biden’s age and fitness to serve. However, Jean-Pierre later clarified in a tweet that if re-elected, Biden would serve all eight years. This “clean up” job caused multiple reporters to react, calling it a necessary clarification.
Biden’s re-election campaign has also faced some opposition, with only 26% of Americans and 47% of Democrats wanting him to run again, according to a recent poll. However, 78% of Democrats approve of his job performance, and 81% said they would support him if he becomes the nominee in the general election. On the Republican side, former President Donald Trump is seeking re-election and leading GOP primary polls by wide margins.
