Planned Parenthood Aborted Nearly 375,000 Unborn Children Last Year: Report
Planned Parenthood Aborts Record Number of Unborn Children
Planned Parenthood has set a new record by aborting almost 375,000 unborn children last year, making elective abortions the leading cause of death for children in the United States. The organization’s annual report shows an increase of about 5.8% from the previous year, with 1,025 abortions performed daily or a baby terminated every 84 seconds.
The Impact of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization
The Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in the summer of 2022 fundamentally changed the abortion landscape across the nation. At least 14 states have outlawed abortions with few to no exceptions.
Despite the staggering number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood, the Guttmacher Institute’s estimate shows that just under 1 million unborn children lost their chance at life in the United States last year, with fewer than half of the abortions performed by the organization.
Pro-Life Advocates React
Conservative Catholic professor and researcher Dr. Michael New reported that Planned Parenthood recorded the second-most abortions performed by the organization in its history, representing approximately 40 percent of abortions last year in the U.S. New’s reaction to the staggering number seemed predictable to him and other pro-life advocates considering President Joe Biden repealed the Trump administration’s Protect Life Rule, which allowed Planned Parenthood to become eligible for more government funding through Title X grants.
The pro-life medical research group Charlotte Lozier Institute analyzed abortion data last year, showing that less than 5% of abortions were performed for reasons such as rape, incest, or the risk to the mother’s life or health or a fetal abnormality. The data concluded that 95.7% of procedures were marked as “elective or unspecified reasons.”
Planned Parenthood’s Declining Services
Planned Parenthood’s latest report also noted a decline in services offered to women, with prenatal services dropping by 29%, miscarriage care falling 5%, adoption referrals falling by 7%, and pregnancy tests falling by 3.7%.
Founder and president of pro-life organization Live Action, Lila Rose, called the organization’s latest annual report “horrific” and urged for it to be shut down.
