Florida men: Kat Cammack speaks out on looming DeSantis-Trump battle
Florida Congresswoman Refuses to Choose Between Trump and DeSantis for 2024
Despite mounting pressure from fellow Florida delegation members, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) is not ready to endorse either former President Donald Trump or Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for the 2024 presidential race. In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Cammack stated that she has had productive conversations with both men and will continue to do so.
While Cammack remains undecided, she did make it clear that the next president of the United States will be a Floridian. Currently, Trump has received endorsements from 11 Florida representatives, leaving only eight who have yet to make an endorsement for 2024.
Although DeSantis has not officially announced his candidacy, he is expected to do so as early as mid-May. His political team has reportedly been reaching out to members of Florida’s delegation, urging them to avoid making endorsements in the near future. Despite this, Rep. Laurel Lee recently became the first Florida representative to endorse DeSantis.
As the remaining Florida Republican representatives decide on their 2024 position, all eyes are on Cammack and her colleagues. According to a recent poll by Morning Consult, Trump is currently polling at 58% in a hypothetical 2024 Republican primary, with DeSantis as the only contender to also reach double digits, with 21%.
Notable Endorsements
- Trump: 11 endorsements from Florida representatives
- DeSantis: endorsements from Reps. Laurel Lee, Chip Roy (R-TX), and Thomas Massie (R-KY)
Despite the pressure, Cammack remains undecided and is keeping her options open. Only time will tell who she ultimately endorses for the 2024 presidential race.
