Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘Red Table Talk’ Show Canceled By Facebook

Facebook Cancels Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk”

Jada Pinkett Smith’s popular online talk show, “Red Table Talk,” has been canceled by Facebook as the social media giant shifts its focus towards virtual reality experiences. The show, which was co-hosted by Jada’s daughter, Willow, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, was the final Facebook Watch Original series to be taken off the platform. Westbrook Media, the show’s producer, is reportedly looking for another platform to continue the series.

The End of an Era

“Red Table Talk” launched on Facebook in 2018 and ran for five seasons, producing over 120 episodes and attracting millions of viewers. The show featured celebrity guests like Demi Moore, Sandra Bullock, and Kelly Osbourne, who sat down with Jada and her family to discuss various topics. The series generated numerous headlines as Jada opened up about personal family dramas, including her romantic “entanglement” with singer August Alsina and her reaction to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Virtual Reality Takes Center Stage

The cancellation of “Red Table Talk” comes as Meta, Facebook’s parent company, reportedly shifts its focus towards creating virtual reality experiences across all its platforms. The move follows the departure of Meta’s head of development and programming, Mina Lefevre, amid the company’s massive layoffs.
