Woody Harrelson unfazed by ‘SNL’ backlash, ignores criticism.
Woody Harrelson Not Concerned About Backlash from “Saturday Night Live” Monologue
Woody Harrelson isn’t one to worry about the opinions of others. The 61-year-old actor recently received backlash for his “Saturday Night Live” monologue in February, where he criticized COVID vaccine mandates. However, Harrelson isn’t bothered by the controversy.
When asked about the backlash, Harrelson told Esquire, “I said it on SNL. I don’t need to go further with it…other than to say – well, no, I won’t. Never mind. That’s enough. But it don’t change my life one bit. Not one bit, if the mainstream media wants to have a go at you, right? My life is still wonderful.”
During his “SNL” appearance, Harrelson made jokes about being a “redneck hippie” who uses marijuana. He also ridiculed COVID drug cartels and lockdowns. Harrelson concluded his monologue by discussing a movie pitch he allegedly read in 2019.
Harrelson’s Political Views
Harrelson describes his political views as libertarian. He told Esquire, “There are things that the liberals do that I think, ‘What f***ing idiots.’ And then there’s also conservative ideology that strikes me as odd. I consider myself, really, an anarchist…Well, I’m probably more of a libertarian.”

Harrelson also shared his thoughts on government, saying, “I never see government work. It always seems to be working for the people who got you there. It’s businessmen working for bigger businessmen. It’s not businessmen working for their constituents. I think government just usually sucks…am I wrong? Even the social programs, they do it reluctantly, and they’re just always trying to gobble back what they can from the social programs.”
