Sylvester Stallone to Return in Cliffhanger Sequel
Get ready for more high-flying action as Sylvester Stallone reprises his role as Ranger Gabriel “Gabe” Walker in the upcoming sequel to the 1993 hit movie Cliffhanger. The film will be directed by Ric Roman Waugh and produced by Neal H. Moritz’s Original Film, Rocket Science, and Stallone and Braden Aftergood’s Balboa Productions.
Plot and Production Details
While details about the plot are still under wraps, the original film saw Walker trying to rescue stranded hikers who turned out to be violent criminals looking for their missing $100M. The movie grossed over $255M worldwide and starred John Lithgow, Michael Rooker, and Janine Turner.
The script for the sequel was written by Mark Bianculli, and casting for other roles is currently underway. Rocket Science will launch foreign sales this month in Cannes, with CAA Media Finance representing North American and Chinese rights.

Director Ric Roman Waugh expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “To be at the helm of the next chapter, scaling the Italian Alps with the legend himself, Sylvester Stallone, is a dream come true. It’s going to be a great challenge and blast taking this franchise to new heights, a responsibility I don’t take lightly.”
Neal H. Moritz, who will produce the film alongside Stallone and Balboa Productions, added, “I am incredibly excited to be working with him and Ric Waugh to continue the story of Gabe Walker and introduce this iconic story to a new generation of filmgoers around the world.”
